The Eagle Creek Wildlife Federation celebrates its 40th Anniversary as a branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation during 2011. (On a per capita basis, the largest wildlife conservation organization in the world.)
Our Mission Statement is: To ensure that the wildife legacy we leave to our children surpasses that which we inherited.
Over the years, the E.C.W.F. has contributed in excess of $35,000 towards S.W.F. programs such as the Habitat Trust Fund, Outdoor Education, etc. The H/T Fund buys and manages habitat lands (over 65, 000 acres to date) for wildlife, based solely on the donation sof the members of the S.W.F.
Our branch has also contributed to the outright purchase of habitat land located in the Sonningdale area, and local volunteers have been instrumental in the cleaning up of old fence lines and abandoned yard sites on approximately 39 quarte sections of Habitat Trust and Fish and Wildlife Development Fund lands in the same area.
Each year, the local branch also stocks 100-200 "catchable' sized trout into the Trout Pond located at the local Regional Park, the Eagle Creek Regional Park. For 2011-2012, the Branch hopes to retain a contractor to build a wheelchair accessible platform and board walk along one side of the Regional Park's trout pond as well.
Upcoming Events : Annual Fish Fry May 1, 2011
Kid's Fishing Derby - June 5, 2011 (Free to all kids, and we serve free hot dogs and drinks
to participants)
